FULL DAYATHENS & ANCIENT CORINTH
Athens is the capital of Greece, with 4 million population and combines modern and ancient culture. It is the birthplace of democracy. Our tour starts at the Acropolis, including the Pantheon, Erechtion, Temple of wingless Nikki and Propylaia. We can continue with the temple of Zeus, the old Olympic Stadium, the monument of unknown soldier, where we can watch the changing of the guards. Continuing downtown, we can see the Athens Trilogy (Academy, first university National library) the 3 temples of knowledge. A brief visit to Plaka, the old city in the slopes of Acropolis. This half-day tour of Athens can be combined with a half-day tour to Sounio or Corinth to get a real feel of Athens and a nearby destination in one day.
About 70 miles west of Athens and 1 and a half hour-drive, we meet the Corinth canal, 4 miles long which connects the Aegean sea with the Corinthian Gulf and the Ionian sea. After taking some photos we continue to the outdoor and indoor museum of Ancient Corinth, an important city because of its location. It is one of the towns which Apostole Paul visited and lived for about 18 months. In the outdoor archeological area you can see the temple of Apollo, the ancient Agora and the step “Vima” where Apostole Paul was lead to be fried by the Roman Gallio, who refused to prosecute him. We will continue to the Acrocorinth, visit the castle with the same name, which has a breathtaking view of the Corinthian Gulf.
